Is the Low energy/Passive House Standard only applicable to houses?

No, Low energy/Passive House is a very versatile concept that can form the basis for the design of any type of building. Schools, banks, apartment and office buildings are only some examples of Passive House certified buildings.

Kindergarten | day care in Denmark

Kindergarten with treated gloor area 782 m2  is built with timber-prefabricated components. The architectural design shows a simple and clear structure on two floors. The children's rooms are arranged in the brighter, southern part. The two levels are connected by stairs and ramps, to be supportive to the motion skills of children.

Sports centre | recreation centre in Germany

Sports centre and multipurpose hall (school and club sports as well as various academic and political events) with treated floor area 1000 m2 is built of timber construction. The building is an example of that energy efficiency without costly building services systems is possible and does not restrict the freedom of design for architects.
